"It's cold!"
The muffled squeal came from a tiny shape barrelling through the thick heather that was the nursery. She sat up, her tawny fur sticking up in spots where it was wet. She flicked her ears, dislodging the clumps of snow stuck on them. The tiny femme giggled, raising a paw to run it over her ears. A clump of white flakes came off on her paws, and she looked at them, sticking out a tentative pink tongue to touch one.
"Brrr!" she squealed, shaking her paw to remove the flakes. "It's freezing!" Her clover eyes were wide with surprise, and she stood, giving her coat a quick shake to dislodge all the snow. It fluffed up, making her look like a tiny ball of fur. She giggled again, standing and bouncing over to a moss nest.
Her eyes focused on a small ball of moss, left over from yesterday. She pounced upon, but misjudged the distance, flying over it and landing with a minor thump. The burst of air that came from her landing sent the moss ball flying behind her, only to hit the near wall and fall to a stop.
Dropletkit giggled, going after it again, only to hit it with her tail and send it flying. She scampered up to the ball, wiggling her rump and pouncing. This time her claws hooked into it, and she tossed it up, turning onto her back. The ball fell and Dropletkit batted with her hind legs, sending it flying across the nursery. The fur ball ran after it, only to crash into her mother, who had just trotted in.
"Dropletkit!" Dappledleaf mewed disapprovingly, lowering her head to lick Dropletkit's fur and smooth it down. "What are you doing?"
Dropletkit looked up at her mother, the resemblance present in their faces. "Hunting," she declared, her tail twitching.
"Hunting? Hunting what?"
Dropletkit frowned, then smiled brightly. "That moss ball. It almost got away, but I caught it, Mama."
An amused purr rolled from somewhere deep in Dappledleaf. "Very good," she mewed with a serious expression, though laughter danced in her eyes, sending them sparkling. Dropletkit's eyes sparkled in the same way, confirming what other's had told her: Dropletkit was her mother's daughter.

Jaykit woke up from his sleepy slumber. it was early, and he saw dropletkit on the other side of the nursery. He had some feelings for her, and he wanted to show how brave he was. Cautiously, he trotted up to Dropletkit. "umm, hi?" he mewed patheticaly.
