Late afternoon clouds drifted lazily through the chilly air. Unbearable cold gushed through the forest, rattling the branches like skeleton bones. The flowers had long since died, and only few remained, colors fading and petals drifting. Among these wilted flowers walked a tom cat. He was lean and handsome, despite his scars and half-tail and a shredded ear, pale gray eyes wary and fur stiff. He was dubbed Cloudleaf, a young warrior of ThunderClan. His nose was in the dying flowers, breathing in their last comforting scents before the year's harsh leaf-bare. How beautiful the flowers were in the summer and the spring, petals thrust outwards. The gray and white tabby, to save his masculinity, denied that he really did like flowers, and often swore that he was only looking for herbs to help the medicine cat. Cloudleaf's gaze clouded, deep in the rushing torrent of thoughts. His half-tail swished back and forth, scattering the flowers this way and that.
The cold air blasted his ears, the wind screaming like a banshee. Stars began to twinkle in the black canvas that was the night. Cloudleaf lifted his head, briefly, before the stinging wind nearly blinded him. He shivered, handsome fur riveting up to warm him. Goosebumps were all over his skin. Why did he bear this kind of cold?

Bright was the sun which shone relentlessly upon the bare earth, its rays barely heating it at all. Naked trees rocked helplessly in the harsh winds that whipped across the dull landscape, making it seem as if they were scratching the sky. Leaf bare was now in full effect; the lack of prey and living plants was proof of just that. Thankfully, StarClan had shown some mercy to the forest by holding back on the snow storms. Sure, there had been a couple of instances in which it flurried a bit, but nothing to worry about. When a blizzard came, however, life would grow much more difficult. Freezing to death would become all too real, pray would become even scarcer, making starvation more of a possibility, and not to mention that trudging through snow was a huge inconvenience to all things who could be completely engulfed in it.
A big puffy cloud drifted through the sky, covering the sun light momentarily, causing the slender she-cat's fur not to gleam any longer. Saffronbreeze wove her way through the trees, her facial expressions non-existant, a first for the expressive young tabby. Her eyes, however, were never dull and lifeless. Sparkling and blue, they captivated many a cat in the past, but those cats didn't matter to her. At this point in her life, save Lionclaw, there was only one that she cared for...
Cloudleaf; he was around here somewhere! Excitement flowing through her veins, she tested the air again to make sure she had really picked up his scent. Sure enough, it was him, as she found him a few fox-lengths ahead of her, quite alone. Now fighting back a smile, Saffronbreeze sat beside him, not saying a thing.

A lovely scent drifted to Cloudleaf's scent glands, blessing them with a rich and elegant scent, as if all the angels of StarClan had grouped into one area, their divine smell teasing his nostrils. Heart pounding like a djimbe drum, Cloudleaf turned his handsome features to the femme next to him. Although he already knew who it was, he couldn't help it. Although she didn't speak, the tom knew her divine voice, like all the angels of StarClan and above, with the taste of honey. Her beautiful, blessed face met his stormy gray eyes. (I feel like a Newbie putting all this down. xD) His half-tail bristled with nervousness and embarressment, that someone so gorgeous and lovely would sit next to such a scarred tom! Cloudleaf was overreacting, however- even though one of his ears was torn, and half of his long tail was gone, he only had small, minor scars, and was still as handsome as before. His breath caught slightly on the leaf-bare air. For a time, he did not speak either.
Snow began to dance out of the clouds above, settling on his pelt. It was a beautiful moment, spent with an even prettier femme, her fur so delicate and smelled of all things pure. Cloudleaf's ears pointed towards the snow- his second snowfall. (You notice how weird things can get? 1 moon= 1 month, and our cats age quickly, but at the same time the season in real time still applies.) His breath caused a cloud in the cold air. His brain and his heart were at a serious conflict. His heart, so pure and beautiful, wanted Cloudleaf to tell his true feelings to Saffronbreeze. But his brain, smart and logical, said it was a poor choice- what embarressment if he was rejected!
But the conflict was soon over, as quickly as rainfall in the summer.
"S-Saffronbreeze..." he began, glad for his fur, for if he did not have it, he would have been as red as a robin. His whiskers twitched, embarressed, and Cloudleaf slightly tripped over his words. "I-I love you. More than anything.

Saffronbreeze stared at the tom in disbelief, had he really told her that he loved her? After all these moons of keeping quiet due to fear of rejection... he loved her? This was quite easily the greatest moment of the young feline's life. Blue eyes locked to gray ones, she smiled.
" I love you more, Cloudleaf."

Relief made Cloudleaf weak in the knees. Saffronbreeze loved him! All his desires were finally finished. "Impossible, mouse-brain." the tom purred, butting his head against the beauty's flank, a deep purr rumbling in his throat.
((SOSOSORRY for the crappy post... frankkly I just want the kits to be born, I'm very awkward at romantic posts. o.o;
Unless it's flirting Mousekit. xD))

Saffronbreeze fought to control her smile, all this time she had wasted hiding her feelings! It was all for nothing, but great StarClan, it felt so good. She could finally be herself again, not lying to herself or anyone else. The pretty tabby was usually very honest, and hated lying more than anything, it felt good to let it out. "Oh, you ..." she said grinning. Gracefully, she then stepped forward and nuzzled him under the chin. "I have always loved you."
