It had been a rough few moons for all the cats of the forest, but it had his some harder than most. There were many felines attempting to remain positive in all of this mess, but Lionclaw quite trying. He lost his sister, Saffronbreeze, the one cat who had always meant the entire world to him. On top of that, his mate was gone, his daughter had died, and so had his grandfather. It seemed as though this wouldn't ever look up for him.

Recently, just after the death of Sedgestar, Lionclaw encountered a StarClan she-cat in the forest, but not just any cat, his daughter. He felt better now, as he had finally found closure with her, but knowing that his mate was still somewhere out there .. it just got to him. Why did she leave him, why didn't she come back? These were all questions which ran through his mind constantly. All of these moons that Sappyleaf was gone, Lionclaw had taken her for dead, and never thought twice that she could still be out there somewhere. Of course, he was happy when he found out, as he never wanted her dead, but it still came as a shock.

Minnowpaw told him to never give up hope on her, and that's just exactly what he would do. Never again would he tell himself that she was gone forever, and those lonely nights he spent awake he could think of her and know that he could see her again, and maybe even soon. Seeing his departed daughter made his life a lot better, more than he had ever though, which also made him realize how important his kin were to him. Lately he had been a horrible father, but now he would step up and act like a father for the first time since his kits were kits.

Blinking the sleep out of his bright emerald eyes, the muscular tabby tom stood, stretching ever aching mouse-length of his body. It had been cold and rainy, so his muscles were even stiffer than they would have been from over-working and lack of food. Every time he woke up, he knew that he had to go hunting, for his Clan's sake, especially for the sake of the queens. Morningfrost was his relative, as well as Duskstar's mate, and Siegefire was her best friend. If they weren't proberly cared for, it would not only endanger them, but also endanger the life of their unborn kittens.

Just as he had left the warriors den, a painfully familiar scent that had entranced him in his dreams now filled the air. Pupils widened as hope filled his chest, but he did not want to show it, just incase it was his mind playing cruel trick on him, but then he saw her. Sappyleaf? he asked in disbelieve, edging closer. [b]W-hat--how--where have you been?![b]

Listening closely, Lionclaw's happiness was somewhat deflated as he could tell by his love's tone that she would be giving him bad news. He didn't want to hear whatever she had to say, he had that feeling already, but he respected Sappyleaf and cared for her entirely too much to turn away now. The tom's ears perked slightly, and he trained his emerald gaze upon her beautiful face, steadying his breathing. Would what she had to say make him think any less of the she-cat whom he had always loved so dearly? Hopefully not, he didn't think there was anything in the world that could make him dislike her in the least bit.

But now, as he listened to her words, the large tabby tom ow had conflicting emotions-- happiness, in that she was back, shock and anger, for what she had told him, and pity, for the way she had been treated. After listening to her whole story, Lionclaw looked to the ground, unable to look at her any longer. He felt sick to his stomach, and that all he had previously known meant nothing. He always considered that the bond that was created between them when they became parents was sacred ... that was, until now.

What she had told him was that he was not the father of two of her kits, two scraps of fur which would always be worse than rogues in his eyes. He hated them already, and he wished death upon both. Lionclaw was not really angry with Sappyleaf, yet at the same time, he was. How could she let a kittypet over power her? As he gazed upon her ginger pelt, the tom knew that his vision of her had been forever scarred by what she had to say. All he knew was that he would never let anything bad happen to her again, ever.

Lionclaw looked back into Sappyleaf's eyes, knowing that no matter what, he couldn't stop loving her, no matter how he tried. He pushed closer to her in a protective manner, never again would he let her out of his site, and if that kittypet ever came around, he would be dead. You, along with my kits, have always been my world. There isn't anything that you could tell me that could make me hate you, he purred, trying to push the image of her rape out of his mind without any luck. But I never want to see those kittens.
